Modern plumbing upgrade

Complete overhaul of the plumbing system

Blake & Michael

On High Street in Morpeth, we recently completed a full plumbing renovation as part of a whole-house rebuild for Swaze Building. The house was stripped back to its timber frame, giving us the opportunity to completely rework the plumbing system from the ground up.

What Work Was Completed

The project involved a complete overhaul of the plumbing system. Starting with the removal of the old, outdated pipes, we installed brand-new water supply lines, waste systems, and drainage

Key tasks included:

  • Running new hot and cold water lines throughout the property.
  • Installing updated drainage systems that were both efficient and compliant with local regulations.
  • Coordinating with Swaze Building to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the heritage-listed property while ensuring the plumbing could handle the needs of a modern household.

Special care was needed to work around the historical nature of the home, meaning precise planning and attention to detail were essential at every step.

Tackling Heritage Area Plumbing Challenges

Morpeth’s heritage-listed properties bring unique challenges, particularly when it comes to modernising systems like plumbing. Older homes often have aging infrastructure, making them prone to leaks and blockages. Working in these areas also requires adhering to strict guidelines to preserve the historical character of the building.

Here’s how we managed the challenges:

  1. Planning for Heritage Compliance: Before starting, we worked closely with Swaze Building to ensure all installations respected the building’s historical significance while meeting current plumbing standards.
  2. Modern Systems, Classic Style: For visible plumbing elements like taps and fixtures, we sourced designs that complemented the home’s heritage look without compromising on functionality.
  3. Minimising Disruption: We used trenchless methods where possible to avoid extensive excavation, preserving the property’s landscaping and structural features.

The End Result

Swaze Building and their client were thrilled with the transformation. By blending traditional aesthetics with modern plumbing efficiency, we helped create a home that not only met but exceeded their expectations.

The final plumbing system is reliable, efficient, and perfectly suited to the homeowner’s modern lifestyle—all while respecting the heritage charm of Morpeth’s High Street.
